Shadowrun 4th Interest check
« on: March 14, 2011, 12:10:56 am »

Ok putting this up to see if anyone wants to play some shadowrun 4th.
I will be the GM.
I have not previously GM'd shadowrun so expect to help me look rules up, especially for the matrix, magic, and combat.  Keep in mind I may not know what I'm doing right at the start, however you also likely will not so this won't matter.
We will use only the core book (for now at least).
Everyone playing would need their own copy of the book, pdf is ok.
It would be run on IRC, or possibly via voice chat somehow.
I will run missions I find online until I finish some missions of my own, which require me running 1-2 missions first so as to figure out how to set op stuff for hacking etc.

For character Gen: No restrictions on item availability, go wild, just remember that I'm gonna have swat teams and military groups swarm you if you you can't hide anything unusual.  And no I'm not buying that you can hide an assault cannon in your pants.  Also keep in mind that explosive ammo is not always a great idea.  Think realistically about what's going to be useful and what just might call down a military air strike on you.

Finally, no joke characters.  I'd like this to be at least partly serious.  I don't want a troll that was a former circus clown or something.  Also no psycho murderer characters, shadowrunners should be criminals but only when it is profitable.
Setting will be somewhere in America as I have a map for that.  Possibly East coast.

Maybe this would get more replies if you included a torrent to the book, nobody wants to buy something so they can roleplay.

I've never heard of shadowrun so if it's a free book of rules or something, then I guess nobody is interested.

This is shadowrun.. It is not free.  Thus I am not posting any torrents (as you suggest I do) as it would break forum rules.  Locate copies ye selves.

Honestly I'm shocked that no one wanted in on a game that is essentially a combo of Lord of the Rings, The Matrix, and the Terminator.  As is I'm probably just not gonna run this due to the massive lack of enthusiasm or interest.

I suspect that its mainly because no one here A) has heard of it B) has it C) want's to buy it for one forum game

If you put a torrent (or directed people to one), i suspect you could get some interest, otherwise, i suspect that their isn't really a chance.

Why is literally every post in this thread that is not made by the op suggesting breaking laws and forum rules?

Seriously, we get it, source books are illegally downloaded all the time, you still have to use some tact when talking about such.

That is what PM and such are for.

To make myself not a lair I say you should all upload every source book you have and maybe some shop lifting.

Apparently you didn't read the thread.
1.  It is not a forum game it is on irc and would go multiple sessions.
2.  I cannot post the torrent for legal reasons and forum rules as previously stated.
3.  No one is stopping you from using google to go find it yourself, honestly if you need your hand held to find a way to access the source book then I don't want you playing anyway.
4.  Again if you haven't heard of it perhaps you should use google, I hear it's great for finding things out.

Please note this is NOT a link to a torrent, simply a let me google that for you, I am not advocating torrents in any way shape or form.
