Making Dwarves less needy
« on: September 14, 2010, 07:43:12 pm »

Megaprojects are all fine and dandy, but I can't help but notice that while I'm trying to build a 30 z-level pumpstack to make my fortress have a moat of LAVA, all my dwarves are running around eating, drinking, going "on break", throwing parties, and generally being unproductive little pricks.

What are my options to make the dwarves less... well, needy?

I think you can stop parties by designating a meeting area from the zones menu, instead of a piece of furnature.
Could be completely wrong, though.

Give cats natural metallic armor and throw them in your danger room.  Also allow their mouth and tail to grasp (shield in mouth, weapon in tail xD)  Have a cat based military.  You know, do the same with all tame animals xD send in the cats as shock troops to disrupt the archers

Modding.

I believe you're looking for...

[NOEAT]
[NOSLEEP]

But you'd get better (and likely more accurate) answers in the modding forum.  And while you're tinkering with their innards, Speed 1 is always fun :)
