Dwarves won't collect items from destroyed caravan :P

Hey guys, just started playing this recently and am quite addicted :D

I finally got my first caravan yesterday, and in trying to trade I accidentally gave all my stuff away (dwarven language barrier: 'offering'?)and got nothing in return... since that wouldn't stand, I collapsed my trade depot on top of them and now I have a nice pile of stuff.

My dwarves keep grabbing a few items and then idling even though my stockpiles aren't full.  I made a massive custom pile that included everything except trash, dead bodies, and wood, but the dwarves put a few items in and stopped, leaving it mostly empty.  If I make new piles elsewhere for gems or whatever and unpause, they'll grab a few more and then stop again before the piles are full.

Is this a bug or am I missing something?  Thanks

maybe as a work around:

Build a 1 tile dump right beside the old trading post. disable your old dump.  Mark all the item as dumb  (d,b,d). If the dwarfs start dumping it then wait till its all dumped. Delete the new dump and remove the dump  item tags (d,b,D). Maybe that will reset any flags that keep the dwarfs from picking it up.


Also how busy are your dwarfs? Cuz it could be low on the totem pole on the work orders.

OK so I think I figured it out... I set my stockpiles on areas with freshly mined rocks thinking it didn't matter but I guess they were occupying the space...  I kept trying to dump rocks but they kept coming back...

Turns out when I set up my custom stockpile settings, in Stone > Other, I only disabled the first page of rocks but there was more than one so they were just putting more rocks in.   :-\
