Visiting wildlife
« on: August 16, 2010, 05:20:35 pm »

I had yetis and wolves visit my fort on a regular basis, but that has stopped for a few years.  I did notice that I trapped a yeti in a cage a while ago and just sorta left him there.  Will no other surface creatures come while he's alive and sitting in my animal stockpile?  I get frequent visitors in the caves.

Along the same lines, in a different fort I had an ambush party I couldn't kill just wondering the outskirts killing animals.  As soon as they would finish off one group, a different group would spawn somewhere along the edge.  It's like there's supposed to be exactly one on the map at all times...

Is this expected/consistent behavior?

Dunno if it is expected vbehavior from them to kill the local wildlife,
but what I can say is that, with a large enough cat population
you can occupy them for months...
they somehow prefer chasing around your pets on the outside to really trying to get inside your fortress.

Maybe chasing around local wildlife is just a replacement behavior that they adopted because of the lack of cats in your fortress :D

Hehe, well, I am playing with the feline sterility mod.  Their chasing the wildlife was likely due to the wildlife's undeath.  That didn't really surprise me.  What did was how as soon as the last zombie groundhog died, a new group would immediately show up somewhere else.
