I miss the hammerer

Really. Has it been removed from the game entirely?

My dwarves demand hammertime.

I missed a lot of things.  Such as the hammerer, a military system that didn't require an advanced degree in Dwarf Fortress to understand, and a medical system that actually cured dwarves.

That's why I went back to 40d.

!!Elves!! would actually be kinda cool as a civ symbol.  !!Clowns!!, however, you get the impression they're on fire of their own free, malicious, evil, will.

Also, much scarier if literally clowns.

Yhea I have the feeling that many nobles have been removed. Then again the only really usefull noble is the dungeon master.

The Hammerer is still in the raws, so maybe he'll make a comeback.

Have the various nobles been removed or are they just bugged?  I still can't get a baron in this version  :(   When I started playing in a slightly earlier version (0.31.8 or something?) I didn't have any nobles show up until after I got a baron.  I can't help but wonder if the bugged baron is holding everything up.

Well today I had the first offer to become a barony. It was after I order the production of hunderds of items by the manger build 2 10 by 10 glass blocks. Had a pop of 89 dwafs and had something over 400k produced goods and 30k exported goods.

My current fort has become a barony as well. I never needed to make any glass items for that though.
Think I had somewhat over 50 dwarves when I got the offer to become a barony, dunno about wealth.

I suspect the large glass production was just a coincidence.  You guys have gotten barons though?  I'm jealous.  Right now I have 3.7 million created wealth, 320K imported wealth, 89K exported wealth, and a population of 143 dwarves.  Still no baron.  My understanding was all I needed was a population of 20, with 10K of exports, and 100K of wealth produced and I'd be set.  That doesn't seem to have been the case though.

I think, you need to do a certain amount of jobs as well, within a certain timeframe (year?)
I did some stonecrafting, even less bonecrafting, no woodcrafting, a *lot* of masonry, a lot of carpentry, 9 sets of full steel plate armor (I did not mine any HFS), a dozen or so weapons..
Craploads of farming and related jobs..

I got my barony in the 3d year of my fort.

Don't know if it matters, but I do have a tendency of letting the traders get away with huge profits, AND give them grand gifts (in the form of exceptional quarry bush leaf roasts)
In any case, once you meet whatever prerequisites, the liaison from the mountainhomes will ask you, before proceeding to the normal trading blabla, if you want to become a barony, and if you want to recommend a specific dwarf. You can not view the preferences when selecting a specific dwarf, so make sure you always have some 'easy mandate' dwarves memorized.
You don't immediatly turn into a barony after accepting. I believe, it took me a season, after the liaison left, to actually become a barony. Possibly my memory fails me, and it even took a year.

The last official word from ToadyOne didn't say anything about jobs, although I suppose something like that may have been added.  I've tried bribing the traders, but it just seems to get me larger migrant waves.  I think my current game is just bugged.  I recall mention of there being a bug with barons in the previous version that was supposed to be fixed with this one, but maybe it isn't quite fixed yet.  Especially if it's the type of bug that doesn't manifest in every single game it could be hard to track down.
