Ooops, sorry, the game was updated today, so that guide is outdated.

Now you install it instead. Somewhat the same concept, except after you install it and download maps, you just "open" the maps/mods, and they are automatically transfered to the appropiate files in your installation folders and stuff. So a little bit more simple. I was dumbfounded for a while to where to put the maps.

"Edit" Might as well suggest all the BenOldingGames. If you loved SF:DG, he is currently in the development of SF:DG2. Warlords 2 is also in beta testing.

cool, a sequel to Starfighter:Disputed Galaxy! (Its not on his site anymore, but the game is still on Kongregate if anyone wants to play it)
Hopefully it'll be more hack-resistant this time.

It's known as the Oppai-Kaiju effect. The islands of Japan generate a sort anti-gravity field, which allows breasts to behave as if in microgravity. It's also what allows Godzilla and friends to become 50 stories tall, and lets ninjas run up the side of a skyscraper.

As for a free game I liked: Spirit engine 2 is free and very awesome. (and 1, ofcourse, but that was always free).

Oh, and I have to give this a vote of confidence too. TSE2 was supposed to be commercial, but didn't sell well. The fun starts around the middle of the game. TSE2 and 1 have different strategies, but I love them both for the storyline and great graphics.

I've got to recommend Visions and Voices, an excellent exploration focused RPGmaker RPG.
If however you are more into story then open spaces, try Diver Down. Or even 1213, which isn't an RPG (or an adventure game), but has a great story.

try Diver Down.
Sadly, this does not run on Vista, or at least very well. A shame too. The scene at the end of the first chapter is pure epic.

so it does.  :'(

There's a DOS version (it's the original version), so I guess a modern desktop with DOSBox could pull this off.
edit: not really. some drivers are missing. (the game is actually from the win98-winMe era)

I'll mention Liberation Army.
um... that's a link to the translation patch. Of the two things, it's actually the one that's easy to find (http://www.google.com/search?sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=Liberation+Army+translation ). Liberation Army itself (due to it being the name of a million organizations from SLA, to the Chinese military) is kinda hard to google... so... um... (this is embarrassing)... can you give us a link?

Dark Black Shades, a body guard game is pretty cool. Elona is really great.

reassembled for your viewing pleasure.

[C]an you give us a link?

Ooh, the original site's down. Hadn't noticed that; it's been a few years since I've played, despite me regularly suggesting it to people :P

Anyway, some kind soul uploaded the japanese version needed for the patch to megaupload. There's a few more places online, from what I could see while googling, but most of it appears to be in moonspeak.

I just downloaded it from MU and patched th'thing to make sure everything's in working order, and it's functioning fine. Just read the readme from the translation patch for instructions on getting it into english; directions are near the bottom of the text file. The patching program they recommend is here. The site mentioned is apparently defunct, heh.

Lil'bit of hoop jumping, but it's very much worth it :D
