Clay Dining Room
« on: August 15, 2010, 02:48:33 pm »

My dining room is half clay. At first I didn't really care, but upon realizing you can't smooth (or engrave I think, though I didn't try it) clay I'm regretting the decision. I could easily just build a new dining room in some rock, but the current one is already in an ideal location for my residential area so I'd rather work something more clever out. My question is, if I build a floor over the clay section of floor and knock out the clay along the edge and build a wall there, will it merge graphically with the smooth stone, and will it provide the same benefits (i.e., can I engrave on it?)?

Thanks :D

You can't smooth or engrave walls and floors.  The best you can do is make the floors and walls out of blocks, so they're as valuable as possible.

If you do this, try allowing economic stone to be used.  Native gold is worth quite a bit.

Constructed walls will merge graphically with smoothed stone walls. You can't smooth or engrave constructions, but if you make the constructions out of stone blocks instead of rough stone, they're equivalent to smoothed walls.

You could also try to make things out of clear glass.
