Legendary stats shouldn't rust
« on: August 11, 2010, 11:49:42 am »

Title says my suggestion for me really - If you put so much effort into getting a dwarf to legendery status in one area, then it should stay legendery - especially if the stat is brought about thanks to a fey mood. Sure, you might get lucky and get a dwarf that becomes a legendery chef or brewer or something, but watching that legendery wood carver rust away due to the fact it's mostly useless is irritating, due to the fact you only get one fey mood per dwarf.

So, basically, my argument is legendery status should not rust at all, or stats brought upon a dwarf via a fey mood shouldn't ever rust away, no matter what.

Well legendary based on moods are really cheap anyway. And if you don't use it it's not use anyway so it should rust aswell.

Permanent skill decay only occurs with not using it for 2 years or so, so you can just keep him (Rusty) with only 1 wood-carve a year. For finite resources like gems, it's a little harder, but if you don't use it, you should probably rust. I agree with the Fey mood part though, moody experience should be frozen: No gain, no loss, ever. It already gives you Legendary+5, it should stay at Legendary+5.

I really have to disagree with this. It wouldn't make sense for skills to arbitrarily rust or not rust. If you don't need them at all, just skip them entirely instead of grinding useless artisans and then complaining that they don't stay perfect forever.
