World gen parameters?
« on: August 11, 2010, 04:59:48 am »

Hello everyone, i wanted to make a copy of my world but only at the begining where i didnt pick a site yet. I was told if you get the world gen parameter txt when you export an image you can use that to duplicate the world. The problem is how do i use the file? do i just manually type in everything? I did that (or at least thought i did) and it generated a world similar but not right. How can make it exact?

Thanks in advance  8)

i guess you can just generate world, then go to your  drive\dwarf_fortress\data\save  and copy your newly created region folder and somewhere. There you go, exact copy of your generated untouched world.

When in your fortress, press escape and select export map, and do an export (does not matter what layers you export).
In the root df folder will be a text file with all the world gen parameters.

Either paste the contents of this file to the end of \raw\init\world_gen.txt file (edit the [TITLE:LARGE ISLAND] to something useful), when you do Design wirld with parameters your world will show on the list.Or manually enter the seeds if you did not manually modify the original world gen parameters.
