I'm playing DF2010 0.31.12 and I like to ask a question about trading.

Urist McPossed and his brother each took the Jewler's Workshop and turned a raw gem into

Unoblumash  The Mellow Frenzy a perfect plume agate

basic value: 4800

Sakzul Nishalen Sakzul Trademoths a perfect picture jasper

basic value: 7200

*sigh* a picture of a diamond on another gem...

Okay now what do I do with the artifacts?

Uhm, your question is missing, but I think what you want to know:
No, you can't trade your artifacts.

The only thing you can really do with non-equip-able and non-furniture artifacts to get them into a bin-less 1x1 artifact-only stockpile some place where dwarves go past them, but are (relatively) safe from thieves.

The dwarves get a happy thought for 'admiring' the artifacts (which they can, apparently, do while running down a hallway).  Certain mods include "display cases" that you can stick them in.

Personally, I just lock them in a vault deep within my fortress, ready to be dumped into magma.  Instant tantrum spiral.

One of my artifacts was on the trading list in the depot,i didnt trade it but it was on the for sale list.

If it's in a bin you can bring it to the depot, but I doubt you can actually trade it.

Ok then, how do I tell Urist McHauler to move it?

With stones i-g  d-b-d and reclaiming them afterwards works flawlessly. Piling up a large number of stones next to the masonry isn't a problem.

But this artifact gem, hasn't even the option to dump it.

- How can I „request“ the usage of bins? So far the dwarfs automagically used them when a free one was available.

- Suppose for a moment it's in the bin. How do I get it out again, after I moved the bin to it's final location?

- Urist McPossed cousin lately produced a Hammer of unparalleld quality. Will a Melee-dwarf in my squads, eventually take it? Or is it, again, for display only?

Set up a 1-tile stockpile for that item type. Press 'q' - 's' and set it so that it accepts ONLY Artifact-quality goods. Now 'q' the stockpile, and press 'C' (that's a capital-C) to restrict it to zero Bins. Now press 't' (Take from Stockpile) and cursor over onto the stockpile that currently holds the Artifact, and press 'Enter'.
