Archer, Bowman, Marksdwarf -- WTF?
« on: August 02, 2010, 11:49:33 pm »

According to Dwarf Therapist v0.5.7, my current fort (v0.31.12) has one guy who is Archer-1, Marksdwarf-4. And I have another guy who is Archer-2, Bowman-2. Neither one is a Bowyer (x-bow maker).

So what the flying fig newton is going on?

Urist McCrossbow: "I only shoot the bows, I don't know how to make 'em!"
Urist McArcher: "Better than me, I picked this up in a human town I passed through!  Shoots pretty darn well, though, once you get used to it!"

If you accidentally lock the elves in the depot and wait until they're insane to capture them in cages and then lock the next group of elves in the depot and unleash the insane elves from their cages, that's still somehow your fault.

Archer is the skill that bowman and marksdwarves use to shoot at things well, the same way it is with melee fighters and the fighting skill.

There's a skill called CROSSBOW and one called BOW, what this means is that a dwarf who uses a bow will gain bowman skill but not marksdwarf and vice versa.

If dwarves decided to live in trees like hippies, they'd still do it better than the elves.
