Disappearing Barrels
« on: July 31, 2010, 05:21:37 pm »

I've heard that barrels of booze that are emptied are destroyed. Is this true?
I haven't tested it myself because I don't want to waste wood.

No, barrels are not destroyed when the contents are drunk or otherwise consumed.  Neither are bags destroyed when you use their contents.

Although sometimes barrels do dissapear under mysterious circumstances, leaving their contents on the floor.  Maybe related to having barrels on a stockpile on a heated square where they slowly disentragrate or somesuch?

Certain vermin, such as fire snakes, will sometime randomly destroy flammable objects such as wooden barrels.

I'm playing a super slow fort, and I'v discovered that they don't disappear, it just SEEMS like they disappear because as soon as the booze is emptied out of it into some dwarves gullet the others start stuffing *Plump Helmet Roasts* in as fast as they can.
