Multiple games?

Maybe this is a stupid question, but I am sure under previous versions I could have multiple fortresses at once (on different saves of course), and play an adventure game at the same time as having an active Fortress saved.  Now when I load up  0.31.12 I only get the options to create a new world or load my fortress.  Is it not possible to view my existing world in Legends or play an adventure, or do I need to abandon my fort? :(

Create a new world... You only have one save, so you can only play one thing.

You can have saves active in multiple world at once. So, Region 1 could have a fortress game going while Region 2 has an adventure mode and Region 3 is virgin and unspoiled. However, there is no way to have two fortresses or a fortress and an adventurer active in the same world at the same time.
