Arenas

How do you guys do them?
My last one I was rather proud of, I made a miniture fort as the arena. Complete with rooms, doors, workshops, beds..ect. The works. Then a side ante chamber filled with the goblins in cages and at a pull of a lever there released. Then with a second lever floodgates drop allowing them to explore the miniture fort. Then in a second ante chamber my military dwarves gather, and with a pull of a third lever the final set of flood gates drop allowing my military to hunt them down room by room. The smooth floors and walls really bring out the blood, esp. since its carved out of shale so its all grayish.

A long, twisting labrynth for my captured titans or megabeasts to live in. I smooth the entire thiing, with wide rooms, twisting passageways, a stillwater pool usually for flavour. one part usually around the pool is muddied to simulate underground jungle.

miasma and bones and blood everywhere, and one badass angry old killer stomping around waiting for me to dump down more playthings.

I usually like to make a more traditional arena style.
chambers under the battle floor which holds the animals/gobbos before battle.
Several kennels and my dungeon master's room (if hes around)  can be found there too, and finally, a large room (usually decked with gold) for the gladiators, above is the stands, simply just a ring of chairs around the top opening of the arena. All in all the arena takes up about 3 z layers, the top for the spectators, middle for the ring its self, and the lower, as discribed above, is for the inner workings.
And finally a link to the arena floor to the water supply..incase things get out of hand.  ;D

What's the best way to go about dropping in creatures into the arena floor?
