I was playing this fort for only a year and got the ambush message and prepared for blood...
but when I looked no kolbold. Unit list showed no kolbold ... but a HORSE!

Version 40d used. only mods used are stone sence, reveal, and adjust start. No other mods or changes.
Are Kolbolds using trojen horses?

It's probably an ambusher that is riding horses as a mount.  The mounts will be revealed while the attackers are still hidden.

Try tacking a file extension onto the end of that.
The url you're using doesn't have a file extension.

I've never seen a dwarf megabeast, though. That's epic.
