wouldn't it be a bit useful in adventure mode if you could scale an up to 2 z level wall with a proper skill heightened and along with that, be able to handle more then a 1 z level fall without being crippled? how about we call this skill hiking skill.
and what it would do is at certain levels, allow you to scale higher walls.
this may however possibly be over trained, seeing how at dabbling, one shouldn't be able to do much more than climb ramps. so maybe make it so you can chose IF you want to climb a z-level, you can attempt it at dabbling, however if you, by a chance relating to the height of the wall and your skill, slip and fail at climbing said wall, you'll just be on your current spot, or even funner, stumble a tile back or so, making a poor dabbling climber fall off a sheer cliff in some situations. another major factor which may need to be added into this is stumbling when falling on ramps. so if you decide to go down a hill and decide to walk to the open space instead of going down to the ramp, you will land on the ramp and stumble AWAY from the wall adjacent to it, moving 1 or 2 tiles away from it, maybe more if you fell from farther up. so if you fall down the side of a relatively steep hill, you will go stumbling down, though if you don't fall more then one z level, you shouldn't worry too much about injury. but by the same token, ramps should break your fall slightly when landing on them, unless you land on one surrounded by walls, which then you would proceed to slam into walls. the hiking skill should probably reduce the damage you take from falls, reduce then chance of slipping at higher climbing heights, and reduce amount of stumbling upon landing on a ramp.
So people of bay12, how do you think this idea would do if actually implemented in the game?
