It actually is possible to kill someone with a wooden training spear. Extremely difficult though. You really, really, really have to work at it.

But its possible!  :D

perfect torture device for the elves then. Lock them in a side-passage after sealing your main entrance hall, the passage must lead to a depot and be filled with 1x wood training spear traps. Slowly beaten to death by the trees they love so much.
