Modded ore: Does this work?
« on: July 15, 2010, 11:09:12 pm »

[INORGANIC:MEROVIATEORE]
[USE_MATERIAL_TEMPLATE:STONE_TEMPLATE]
[STATE_NAME_ADJ:ALL_SOLID:meroviate ore][DISPLAY_COLOR:6:7:1][TILE:156]
[ENVIRONMENT:ALLUVIAL:CLUSTER_SMALL:100]
[ITEM_SYMBOL:'*']
[METAL_ORE:MEROVIA:100]
[SOLID_DENSITY:10100]
[MATERIAL_VALUE:90]
[IS_STONE]
[MELTING_POINT:22736]
[BOILING_POINT:96885]
[SPEC_HEAT:130]

Will that show up in-game? I intend for it to be about as rare as native aluminum.  I'm asking because while the metal this stuff is an ore of shows up (in fact, it shows up TOO often, every adventurer I generate ends up with iron meroviate starting equipment, and there should probably only be one such piece of equipment per dwarven fortress) I never seem to strike it, and Dwarf Prospector+Adventure Mode says there aint' any.

I dunno, you guys have survived Thomas the tank engine, golems, zombies, nuclear explosions, laser whales, and being on the same team as ragnarock.  I don't think something as tame as a world ending rain of lava will even slow you guys down.

Spoiler: aluminum (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: your ore (click to show/hide)

Looks good to me.

-edit-

Also...

Several minerals and gems are specified to occur within alluvial layers. However, the current version of Dwarf Fortress does not consider any layer "alluvial".

If such layers were encountered, they would contain small clusters of any of...

        * native gold
        * native platinum
        * cassiterite
        * jade gems (blue, lavender, pink, white, and green)

Might try something other than alluvial. If you want it to be super duper rare, look at star rubies and that sort of stuff for inspiration.

Yes, I'm pretty sure you're going to have to regen for your mineral to show up.  You may want to generate a few worlds and do repeated soil peaking with DF Hack to see where and how often your ore shows up.
