Malpractice?
« on: July 15, 2010, 03:04:19 pm »

One of my dwarves got his leg and ear torn up by a giant olm. My doctor wanders in to the hospital so what all the fuss is about, cleans the wound, and prescribes no further treatment. Anyone else had issues like this?

Also one of my militia has been dizzy for quite some time. I fought some cave swallow people blow gunners, could it be some sort of poison?

Yes, they do use poison darts.

Also with the new health care system often times dwarves do heal up just fine, but not entirely. You can have old, lingering wounds.

I have a carpenter who was badly mauled by a troll. He survived, just barely. It was very hit or miss at first, but the doctors managed to save him. He's mostly healed up by now, but has nerve damage in several limbs and walks with a limp. :(

I've taken him off woodcutting duty, and so he can make barrels in the safety of the fortress now.

Grizzled war veterans actually will look grizzled. They will be a mess of scars and may have other lingering, permanent injuries.

Healthcare is fun that way.

I had a guy break his foot - he's in bed for an eternity.
A guy gets both hands torn off - he's in bed for a short while and then gets up and goes about his business WITH THE WOUNDS COMPLETELY CLOSED.

... a third got his thumb cut and it got infected and swollen but he just plain didn't care about getting treatment.

This guy might not be able to stand again, not sure

Will the poison effects go away eventually or is my militia captain going to be eternally dizzy?

Cave spiders (the vermin kind) have a poison that causes mild diziness. But that FOREVER!

Wait, wouldn't dwarves already be dizzy all the time from being constantly drunk?

So dwarves have to drink more and more to actually get drunk?

They've been drinking so much that they've switched polarities.

NOT drinking makes them drunk now.
