Farming with 31.10
« on: July 14, 2010, 11:59:28 am »

Ok, I'm not real swish with this game, even though I enjoy it. However, now I am unable to farm in the sand. Right now I'm flooding the plots and I'm hoping that will resolve the issue. Am I having a noob moment and missing something simple?
Thanks guys!

it only needs flooding underground, and if it isnt soil above ground it wont work

No, flooding the plots is the right step. You are talking about underground farming, right? Just checking.

Theres a bug right now where you can't farm underground on dry soil, but you seem to have gotten it handled. Just be careful not to flood it too much though.

I'm going to use this thread since it's already here. I've got a few underground farming plots that the dwarfs won't plant in. They're muddied, the plots were constructed successfully and I have tons of seeds two tiles away. I even dumped some more water on them just to be sure. It's white sand if that started mattering.

You need to check for a few things:

Is farming enabled on a dwarf?
Is every single tile muddied? One dry tile "ruins" the whole farm.
Have you set the farm to actually farm in the current season? I think they only begin with one season set to plump helmets. Try pressing a through d for seasons and setting them all to plump helmets (or your desired crop).

Every last tile needs to be muddied now? Weird. Thanks for your help.
