Selecting seed for farming

hi everyone im just starting out playing df and im having some trouble selecting seed to farm on my underground plot. does anyone know how to move the selection because the arrow keys only move the map. I know that i bought the right seed (plump helmet) at the beginning of the game but it wont let me farm it.

any help would be great. :)

Use the +- keys of your numpad. :)

If you don't have a numpad on your keyboard, you need to check out your keybindings.

or if you dont have a numpad the +/- next to backspace work as well  8)
