Blocking a channel..
« on: July 14, 2010, 04:48:04 am »

I have a moat filled with water with a channel running to a stream, and I just got access to magma (i.e. finished my pump stack). I want to fill my moat with magma (obviously!), but can't figure out how to empty it. Is there any way to block the in flow? Oh, wait, I just had an idea: pump some magma over the surface and into the channel to turn it to obsidian. Still, is there a way to do it without having to expand my pump stack onto the surface?

Pump out water faster than it flows in and construct a floodgate or wall.

Execution shaft aka. dwarven wormhole

Works as follows: Things enter one end, emerge at the other and then get eaten by worms.

Ah yeah, didn't think of using a pump to get it out fast, thanks!
