floating traps- now with picture!
« on: July 09, 2010, 06:01:11 pm »

i have discovered that traps float if the ground underneath them is caved in, deconstructed, horribly destroyed

this leads to many interesting ideas to subdue flying goblin invaders, or just sheer trapeds everywhere

i havent tested much on this but ive been thinking that you could make a litteral wall of cage traps in the sky....

4-5 z-levels and catch various flying creatures

if im correct the caught creature will fall to earth and be gathered by your dwarves, to replace, simply build a flight of stairs to your cage and let them replace

It's not just traps.  Doors, floodgates, and some other buildings can be made to float in the air if you build them on top of a constructed wall, then deconstruct the wall.  It appears that the cave-in logic only looks at constructions and terrain, and not at every building type.

Did I hear floating cage traps? No. Silly me, that was the sound of a *giant eagle cage (tower-cap)* falling to earth.
