-Got news from Bosley that Commie Scum was sniffing around Amurican military bases.  Not on my watch!
-We know the Marxists are up to something and we've got three tips.  Money is moving from Madrid and they are flying someone important from Rome to Vienna.  One of their suspected agents was spotted buying the ticket.  They's also been a bit of chatter about a Chrystler playing a part in the plot.
-I jet off the Madrid, follow the money...
-...I can't actually follow the money, as we have no leads in Madrid except for the bank teller.  I decide to wiretap the KGB office, we all know them commies are working together.  My work done, I jet off to Rome

-This place is about as subtle as they come.  Seriously?  A huge office building in the middle of downtown.  Way to go Italian Police.  Oh well, time to wiretap the commies again!

Case 01: Agent D. Romanov

Memo from Romanov: This was my first case when I returned from a long hiatus. My performance wasn't one of my best, but the crime was prevented and I got a couple of people behind bars. Also, for my next cases, suveillance footage of my actions will be available for viewing. Right now, you'll have to make do with what I got for my breifings.



I got called in to Washington D.C. on January 1st, now, I wasn't thrilled about spending New Years Day getting talked to by Chief Jones, but as an agent you've gotta make sacrificies for the country's own good. Anyway, about the case, it was unusual. I never got to find out what the 'specialised equipment' the Chief mentioned was outside of this briefing, but I knew from the outset it looked like a criminal group was looking to steal something big.



Note how specific the Chief is. Somehow, he can be more vague than this.



He just loves namedropping 'The President', too, I guess it makes him feel more important or something. Anyway, what you'll get next is the CIA's clues on the operation, plus a location (Well, a continent) and the name of an organisation involved.



The Red Battalion are a bad bunch. Created about five years ago when a Communist political activist got a few of his buddies over and decided to start spreading their particular brand of Communism in the East. Their operations expanded and now they're on the top-26 of the CIA watchlist.



It's worrying the amount of people in the CIA there are who work for another group. Be constantly vigilant, and when you conduct building raid, you may discover info that can be used to turn them in.

Anyway, this case started quite well, the clues were useful. One thing to keep an eye on is your clue sources, they can give hints as to what groups are involved in the crime.



This is my first clue, it gives me two locations: Baghdad, and Webley Court 58. It was gonna be my first port of call, a wiretap and a break-in at known locations usually provides a huge amount of intel to a beginning investigation.



Bingo, suspect and a location. That is gonna be my first port of call. A wiretap should give me names, places, and pictures. And a break-in might lead to an early arrest.

Telex #44, I could look this up later on using a computer at an enemy hideout, but I'd have to get the right organisation. Still, next stop, Cairo.

January 2nd

I boarded a plane to Cairo. Wasting no time, when we touched down I picked up the agency-provided, a second generation Ford Fiesta. If you don't know what that car is like, I'll just mention that the top speed is 40mph. Yes, it's that good. Anyway, I sped (ha-ha) down to Webley Crescent (Not Webley Court) and began the arduous process of placing a wiretap. I caught wind of several interesting conversations, and I got a message from one Omar Muller to Deirdre Hansen.



We had an Inside Contact from the Mossad, the Israeli national intelligence agency. This appeared to be a big operation, and if I went after a Mossad agent, I'd have to put up with a lot more skilled opposition than I'd get from a Red Battalion member.

I decided to take my chances and break in to the building. I kitted myself out with an UZI, a motion detector, a camera and a safe-cracking kit. Unfortunately, I think the guards saw me coming. As soon as I entered the building about three guys with yellow guard uniforms opened fire on me. Thankfully, they were awful shots and I got dime to dive behind cover. I popped out and managed to take them all out pretty quickly. I knew I was running out of time, Deirdre probably heard the shots and was on her way out of the building. I ran through the building, stopping only to deal with the guards, and caught Deirdre near one of the exits. I managed to take out her two bodyguards and ran at her, she pulled a gun but I was able to knock it from her grasp and wrestle her to the floor. I took her 'round to the local CIA office.

She told us all about the message traffic between her and Omar.



There's my next stop, Washington D.C.

I travelled direct to Washington and the local agent got in contact with the Mossad office there. When I got in, I spotted Omar at one of the desks near the entrance. I began to walk calmly over but he saw me coming, he barely got up on his feet when I tackled him down and cuffed him. I got him to the local CIA office and he was put behind bars. My next move was to go after the hideout in Baghdad. Omar had given me info on one George Cahill who rented the place and was the Researcher in the whole outfit.

I boarded the next plane out and in a few hours, I was sat behind the wheel of my car, watching that building like a hawk.

George Cahill appeared at one of the windows, surrounded by an entourage of armed guards. He left his men behind and went to his car. I revved up mine and gave chase. My crappy little Fiesta barely kept up with his BMW, but the traffic was able to stall him long enough for me to leave my car and drag him out, I cuffed him and took him to the local CIA office. He confessed and got put behind bars.

Unfortunately, wind of the arrests had reached the rest of the criminals involved, and they all went in to hiding.

Chief's debriefings are always very...impersonal.
