Actually, that goes for a lot of things. Out of curiosity, do European countries have the same issue the US has with rampant political under-education?
That'd hold true for any democratic country.

most likely yes. I think it's inherent to the system, really.

Yeh pretty much, I was kind of shocked to hear my uni friends discussing who to vote on based on nothing more than looks. Even worse when they then berate me for not voting.

Given how often Internet Debates go between people of different nationalities, yeah I'd say it's a universal issue.

Well I think we've all built up our ramparts on this one.

See, we could have saved ourselves a lot of trouble.

I apologize for asking if you had special needs. That was untoward.

Now right here I want to crack "And I didn't realize you were so sensitive about your condition" but you probably would not take that in the humor it was meant.

And why the heck does everyone keep insisting Stanford University is a biased source? Its a freaking interview. And the particular style of interviewing one person and giving them all the time they want to explain their position is very difficult to make biased, since you're receiving full and complete thoughts instead of little sound bites cropped and snipped in the editing room.

An interview is still just one interview.  Important sure, but not necessarily the be all end all information on the subject.  I've kinda lost track though.

I apologize for asking if you had special needs. That was untoward.

Thank you.  I think the thing about the humor confusion is, when there's already an air of hostility, it's easier and safer to assume that it's supposed to be taken as an insult.

Understandable. I intend it to be disarming, but instead it becomes offensive. See the ridulous xkcd-style drawing of a tank that got me reported.

Just so everyone's clear, I am not a Nazi and have a Jewish friend (who wore a black and white T-shirt with a Panzer VI E on it to DnD once, and told me about Hearts of Iron and thought I'd be happy to know he appointed Guderian governor of France. I looked at him funny after that. ).
