debugging
« on: October 08, 2010, 06:48:47 pm »

Toady has made a fantastic game but he keeps moving on to making new features before half the ones already there even work.  there are some many major game braking bugs in df mode of .16 and he is moving onto the adventure mode.  so my idea was to just get some one to handle all the debugging since it doesn't require a creative genius.

Except he's said thousands if not millions of times that he doesn't want to work with someone else, it's his project, etc.   It's not going to happen.

And he's been doing quite a lot of bugfixes on his own, as of late.

there are just so many major bugs being ignored like the fact that there are 0 migrant nobles , soap is broken, plaster is broken. the game is brilliant but these are game braking problems.

I don't mean to be rude and I'm sorry if it sounds that way.

How is buggy soap and plaster game breaking for you? Soap isn't needed much IIRC, and the bug that's present is the log spam. Plaster isn't broken either; it's just a storage issue. Besides that, I've seen very few noticeable bugs so far, and I would hardly call half the game broken. They're not being ignored; there's just other things that are more important to him.

And I know I'm going to be yelled at for this, but this game is in Alpha. He'll fix the bugs he can, but he's not going to put off adding features for a year or something just to fix some bugs.

What bugs have you found? Mine is running fine! As for 'half finished' features, what version of DF is this? Notice were not even at V1 yet? Were still in DF alpha, so you can expect a few things to be unfinished, he is building systems as place holders so he can add to them later on.
