Looking for a wide multi z level water fall
« on: July 07, 2010, 04:53:04 pm »

If some one has one and is willing to transfer world files that'd be awesome either that or i'd appreciate worldgen settings to help maximize the possibility of finding one.

The perfect situation for the fort i have planned would be a sheer or nearly sheer cliff face with a waterfall atleast 15 squares wide and 10 or more z levels high.

i'd prefer a world with all 4 races alive and as large as possible as for other map properties i'm not picky.

I think you can make your own waterfall out of aquifers...

It has aquifers though so watch out or turn them off before world gen.

I hope you've played on a 15 tile wide river before, it can slow things down quite a bit, especially if you have an older computer.

To get large, steep waterfalls during worldgen, just change the minimum and maximum rivers in the settings to 800, and change "periodically erode extreme cliffs" to no.
A word of warning, though, making it not erode extreme cliffs makes it rather difficult to find a mountain without extreme cliffs if you're in to mountain embarks.

I once found a single z-level waterfall.
Unfortunately, said fortress crumbled from dehydration.
Irony?

One thing that might help in finding such a thing, is that I don't think that waterfalls exist except when two rivers merge.

1. Find a freezing river, dam it when it's frozen.
2. Channel down 20 z levels, smooth and fortify map edge
3. ???
4. Profit!
