Earth Eternal -- Like WoW, but free
« on: July 02, 2010, 09:26:07 pm »

http://www.eartheternal.com

Note: I've played WoW very little, but this seems very similar to me.

Game's in open beta. Most of the basic features are in, including guilds and PvP (no personal experience with either).

There's a planned feature: Groves, which are little sanctuaries where you can "get away." You can have a personal one, where you can invite your friends, and your Guild can have one (you can presumably invite folks in there too). Not sure how interesting this'll be, but it's something I've never heard heard of before.

I've played off and on for a while, it's not bad at all. Starting to get a tad dull with no one else around though.

They bill it as a browser game, but to play you have to install the "Spark Player" which can run as a browser plug-in or stand alone.

Sign-up's free and it's free-to-play. There is, of course a "credit shop" for bonus stuff, but you're in no way crippled if you avoid it.

20-odd races (differences are cosmetic only, for now anyway), four classes: Druid, Knight, Mage, Rogue. Some skills are available to everyone, others are class specific.

Edit: I'm a lv14 druid named "Rockfire Silverwing" (random name generator :))

Seems a bit too furry for my tastes.

... Yes, the hugs are for everyone.  No stabbing, though.  Just hugs.

That and the UI is a ripoff of Runescapes.

Mostly the too furry part though.

No humans?  Just varying degrees of furry.

Knowing how furries on the internet tend to behave, I would not have much hope for groves.

I haven't come across anything of *ahem* that sort... I don't doubt it's been done, but I've never seen it, nor heard about it from a bit of forum lurking.

There is the robot race, if you REALLY don't want to be an animal. Honestly, I don't care for most of the race options. It's not too bad once everyone's covered in armor though.
