Lock mouse X/Y toggle in designation.

Could we get 2 toggle options in the designation window to lock either the X or Y of the mouse to allow us to designate in straight lines?

You could just use the keyboard. Real easy to designate straigt lines with Shift and the arrow keys.

Some people prefer the mouse and in the end mouse support will need to be improved for the interface upgrade (granted, that's a few years from now, but eventually.)

Oh I do use the keyboard shift+arrow keys to do most everything. It would be faster to use the mouse for doing stuff like separating a block of Shift+over+down Mine designated areas into rooms.

The mouse works for designating things like mining, etc. just hit D then select what you want (mining) then hold the mouse button down and draw.

hmm.. make sure mouse is set to YES in the init

Left click changes the clicked tile to whatever action you're currently on, and right click moves the keyboard curser.
