Dented?

Erm.... My war dogs just got into a fight, and they took some injuries..

"... His right front leg is dented, his upper body is dented..." and etc...

as far as I know, they were regular flesh dogs before...

Dented basically means bruised, but it is a more all round term and can be applied to non flesh items as well.

It's a bit odd but still works - roll up your sleeves and lean on the corner of your desk for a minute of so and you'll get dented arms. :)

If your arms don't form back up to the proper shape instantly, You need medical attention. Dents are signs of swelling, and not the good "I'm muscular" kind, but the kind that is generally bad.

Hand on rough carpet
Patterns forming in the flesh
Everyone has it.

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.
Unfortunately dying involves the amputation of the entire body from the dwarf.

Ram your arm against the corner of a table until it stays deformed. That's a dented arm.

And where do you get your information from?

Some kinds of skin lesions and wounds are very similar to dents actually. And the proper definition of oedema is a swollen skin (which manifestates first on the anlkes and goes up on the legs) which can be quickly dented back by finger pressure and then it slowly returns to its state of swelling.
It is normal for skin to get dented if you press it against a hard object for a while, and it can take some minutes to recover after that. Prolonged pressure can cause pressure wounds due to ischemia (although in normal people you'd feel unconfortable long before it) and some pressure every day can induce the formation of thicker skin in the stressed spots after a while.

I really want that one as a "when". I want "grubs", and "virgin woman" to turn into a dragon. and monkey children to suddenly sprout wings. And I want the Dwarven Mutant Academy to only gain their powers upon reaching puberty. I also have a whole host of odd creatures that only make sense if I divide them into children and adults.

Also, tadpoles.

Heads get dented frequently. Depending on how you think of this, the mental images are mind boggling.

I'm curious what the barely conscious ai wrote about.
Well that went better than expected.  He went nuts and punched a rabbit to death, then the dogs and the whole dining hall ripped him to shreds.
