Dudes, a revelation.

Remember back in the 80's? When The Dark Knight Returns and Watchmen essentially created the Dark Age of comic books?

They did it again.

Except now, it's the Dark Age of revitalizing campy old franchises and making them "realistic", while simultaneously losing any of what made "The Dark Knight" and "Watchmen" movies good.

Movies and media in general are pushing to be more realistic (also read: darker). TBH I'm really tired of it. Can't we just enjoy stuff that doesn't even make an attempt at being anything like real life?

Yeah, dude. It was hilarious. The second one was just pure ass, though.

I didn't like the Watchmen movie, having been a pretty big fan of the book >_>; but perhaps I won't open that can of worm debaters.

I liked 'em both, for different reasons. The book because Alan Moore is pretty damn great, and the movie because all things considered, it translated pretty well. Not excellently, mind you, but well.

So this isn't actually a real movie. /yet/. This was a pitch to the studio to fund Kevin Tacharoen's (brother to Maurissa Tancharoen of Doctor Horrible and Dollhouse fame (among other things)) vision of what a new MK movie could be. The actors all worked for free although I'm sure the bigger names probably want in on the action if it gets produced.

Here's video of the new MK game. I'm pretty sure the movie is in the bag for getting made. I'm also impressed those guys did all that work for free. That was not a simple makeup job for Baraka and Reptile.

As for the game...looks pretty, looks like most other Mortal Kombats that have been made. Looks fun though.

The day the president spontaneously sprouts fangs and arm blades, I can die happy.
