Graphics/FPS problem.

So: I have a 40d with mayday graphics, which runs like a charm; I have 120-250 fps all the time with my 7 starting dorfs;
I also have 31.03 with mayday graphics, which runs like shit.

The visual difference bw them is i.e. this: the fonts in 40d are all nice and smooth, when fonts in 31.03 are crude as if sb made them from square block; is that what u call software mode? can this be changed?
