Deadliest Nations [mod in progress]

I wanted to make a mod based off of a certain nation with it's culture, but I couldn't pick one. Greeks were taken, Japanese was already done, so I thought... What about a mod that clashes a bunch of different nations together?

Like the Mali trading with the Greeks, while the Greeks are at war with the Chinese.
It'll take a lot of history lessons, but I can probably do it.

I will work on this mod in sort of stages, where I focus on one culture at a time. Each empire will have it's own unique set of weapons, armors, and etc. I will also add in their mythological creatures if they have any, and real native creatures to their area.

How about the blood-drinking, skull-piling Mongol hordes? You wouldn't be able to play them as mounted horse archers in Fortress mode though.

Take Vikings (or Norse in general) then! Blood-letting, mead-drinking and skull-collecting, all in one package!

...

At least, for some Norsemen. Not all of them are stark-raving-mad-berserkers.

These are all good suggestions, thanks guys.

By the way, this is going to be placed in the past-past-past era, so there will be little to no guns or technology or gatling camels.

However, Russians will indeed have the ability to ride on bears.

You mean, basically, dwarves?

Yeah, a slavic/northern Europe group could fit in there. Yeah, let's see how this turns out. Languages too?

If I remember correctly, making all races playable means giving them all playable tags, and then when you'd start a fortress, you'd get a random civilization that was one of the above races.

I guess I can do that.



For language files...
no wai man i tried doing that i got bored after like the first ten pages of changing words.

You do not get a random civ, you can pick them on the embark screen on a civilization window.

For nords, make a language which is a mix of slavic and scandinavian and it will be awesome. And give them appropriate hair color and styles (and armors :)).

I'm not making any language files, I'm either too dimwitted, too lazy, or I just don't know a trick or program that makes it easier.

So somebody can either volunteer to make one, or tell me of this program that I haev been hiding under a rock from.

Those two fist weapons could possibly use the Striker skill; don't think anyone's tested knuckledusters yet.

Never used Dwarf Therapist, mods or tilesets in all the years I've been playing.
I think Toady's confusing interface better simulates the experience of a bunch of disorganised drunken dwarves running a fort.

I don't think striker is currently useable as a actual weapon[skill].

It probably won't show up.

Plus, fighting with brass knuckles/spiked knuckles is actually completely different from pugilism/martial arts, so I think it deserves a seperate skill.
