Omegle 2.0 -- Idea
« on: May 23, 2010, 03:53:31 am »

While trolling (well, something like that) about Omegle, an idea hit me:

This is fun, but it'd be cool if you could have more than just 2 people...

So, here's the idea, you hit the homepage and you can just hit a button to start chatting (using defaults), or pick a few options like room size (specific or range), conversation in progress, etc.

keeping names straight might be tricky, and it'd require a bit more server effort that random 1-on-1 picks, but it seems totally doable, and I'm astounded it hasn't been done before. (Unless it has... if so, link plz!)

But then you get weird people finding each other in groups of more than 2, and starting some kind of gang raping internet cult

Not that that wouldnt be awesome.

Yeah, 90% of omegle visitors seem to be interested only in cyber-sex, so why not make cluser-f*king easier for them

damn... that site's transformed me into a cynical ass in only an hour...

Simple:
Naming - Name each arrival as User# counting upwards with each arrival. You may have User34, User 96, User 104, and User 105 in a room at once if that room just tends to linger, but every new joiner, and even old participants who leave, would get a new number to keep it relatively anonymous.
Rooms - Ask a user if they want to start or join a room, and if join, ask how many people minimum and maximum that they want to join, defaulting to 0 for both, meaning "don't care".
