Pretty nifty way to display embark or megaprojects.

An alternative is too use a small tileset, like this. Mostly designed for large projects, and they won't have any artifacts. Still, pretty cool.

It would mean that once a year, all of your female cats suddenly explode if there are any male cats around.

ive been having some fun with the zoom out myself. i dug a shaft down to the magma, and have been exploring the various levels. so when i zoom out at a level with all sky, i get a very interesting series of images of the various layers ive dug through so far. so now i just nee to finish walling off the edges of the one level for proper fort security, and then i will be safe!

its really funny when you build a wall, and dont wall off the layer above- things will spawn atop the wall. I was very happy that the troll had no way down from there ^_^

Whenever I try and zoom out, the game locks up.

True, but at a certain velocity the resulting explosion expels invader-bits at fatal speeds. You don't want to be dropping trogdolyte-shaped shrapnel bombs into your boneworks.
