Dwarf Stories: The Mercenaries
« on: May 19, 2011, 10:44:07 pm »

The dwarven kingdoms started in the year 50. Over the years there have been many hundreds of wars waged for, or against, the dwarven kingdom in the Mountainhomes. The king sent thousands of young, talented dwarves to establish defensive, self-sustained fortresses to help protect the Mountainhomes, but only a few succeeded. In order to cope for the failed fortresses, dwarf sympathizers and even mages have been allowed to join the Mountainhomes and become guild members.
It is the year 1369. You are the leader of a newly formed guild known as the Onyx Republic. Your name is Carter Sierris, a name of the common tongue looked down upon by your noble contractors. You are stationed on the surface, far away from the Mountainhomes to be used as fodder to dull the blades of any enemies, but you have no plans of dying.
Today is sunny and apparently in "good" weather, and your elven member is basking in the sunlight without a care in the world, the field frolicking anvil hugger. Your human comrades are all practicing with what few weapons your contractors so "kindly" provided you with.
"I can'nae believe this elder forsaken weather! What do you anvil hugging elves and humans like about this!?" - you
"Come on boss, must every insult you throw involve anvils?" - "Marta" the frolicking elf mage
"Yes!" - you

You decide to visit the nearby village, if only to escape this anvil loving sky. Marta follows you everywhere since she can at least make a decent meat shield if something bad happens. The town seems to be falling apart, you could probably convince one of your contractors to fix it up if you were willing to shave their beards off, which of course you are. Those noble anvil suckers deserve it. There's a poster offering a reward of a decent crossbow for clearing out the bandits which are turning the town into their haunt.
The town at least has potential, if nothing else.
You ponder what to do for a moment...
