Feisty Merchants
« on: May 15, 2010, 05:44:16 am »

Over time, I've noticed that the time required by merchants to unload and pack back up increases (probably due to the crowding of items on the depot). This led a human caravan to visit while the elven caravan was still at my depot, re-packaging their goods. It seems that both merchant groups treat each other like enemies, so now I have a bunch of apprehensive traders going back and forth to exit but subsequently avoid each other. Also, when they happen to be within physical range of one another they fight, albeit rather weakly. Interesting to note is that the armed guards with the humans do not engage or fear the elves, only the traders they escort, and make no effort to defend them when an elf punches one of them as they pass by.

Has anyone experienced the same thing, making it common? Or perhaps the human and elven civs that trade with me are hostile to each other, that being the reason?

Wow, that's cool!

Were these two civs at war or something? I think Toady put in a lot more than we know...

Yep, Toady put in a hellton more stuff than we even dared notice by now. As an adventurer, after the equivalent of leaving a screwdriver stabbed into the enter button for 20 hours, and forced into place by a desk, I managed to get a Dwarven deity to tell me about the region I was in. In fact, it was a four screen long information dump for the nearest 20 travel tiles. Which uncovered the said tiles on the travel map. You could reproduce it if you have the time.
