Collapsing the world
« on: May 16, 2010, 08:43:00 am »

So, I'm pretty new to this game. After my last fort seemed it was about to starve, I decided to kill off some dwarves by digging out the base of a large hill with my dwarves standing beneath it. The game froze for a minute as the last tile was dug out, then boom, dust EVERYWHERE, and a few squished dwarves.

Anyway, this got me wondering. Has anyone ever dug out an entire z-level, brining pretty much everything crashing down?
I'd give it a go, but I need to get a lot of dwarves first...

I have no doubt that it has been tried and DF crashed because the fps dropped from 100 to 0 faster then a lead kite drops from a windless sky.
but feel free to try for yourself!

Well, you know how if you take your thumb and forefinger and hold them up to your eye, you can make it look like you're squishing someone's head? It's like that, only for real.
