Might be related to that other guy who had a dwarf wrestler punch a forgotten beast in the lower body so hard that he made it fly off.

I've had inexperienced recruits spend an entire season trying to choke a buzzard to death and succumbing to exhaustion. In my experience the unarmed, untrained dwarfs are next to useless even against weak creatures. I think you just got lucky.

I had a dwarf rip a bear into two halves with his bare hands.

Now, granted, this bear had been attacked with an axe beforehand, so perhaps it was already partially split and the dwarf just finished the job. But still, he did it with his bare hands.

And this wasn't a military dwarf, I just recruited him suddenly 'cuz I was mad at that bear and needed someone to try to kill it.

I've told this story before, but it's still stuck in my head.
