Ugh. I had a clear glass monster in my last fort. I made the mistake of sending both of my squads to take care of it. Then once I realized it couldn't be killed, I couldn't get my squads away from it. They all died very slowly.

They spent days hacking off all of its limbs and tail one by one until every dwarf was too exhausted to move. Then the beast just "pushed" them until all their bones were broken and they slowly died. It took days to kill each dwarf but they were too exhausted and wounded to flee. Then my masons were too scared of it to wall off the cavern and it got loose. It "pushed" all the wild horses, buzzards and groundhogs it could find to death too. Somehow it didn't matter that it had no legs. It was still able to get around just fine.

Guess a usefull way to deal with such is to seal it off with only a hole for access and 'recruit' unwanted migrants to try take care of it... either the FB takes care of your unwanted immigrants or they take care of your unwanted FB.

(guess a narrow floorway to the middle of a pit above the FB enclosure and deconstructing the support floor will allow 'entry'  :P

First thing you should do is find the first cavern, slaughter everything down there, then wall it off completely at the edges.  This will keep bastards like those from coming in.  If not, dig an access path to the surface and let the goblins/caravan guards/unwanted migrants run the gauntlet and try to kill the FB.

I had an opal titan outside my fortress for a good few years.  It killed 3 or 4 caravans, numerous kobold/goblin ambushes and 1 1/2 sieges.  Someone in the 2nd siege got lucky and finally lopped its head off.  Everyone else got pushed to death, despite it having its feet and arms cut off and everything else in red.  I think because it doesn't bleed, you have to decapitate it.

A single-tile cave-in will kill anything. ANYTHING.

So there's that, as well. It looks like the only chronic problems that water can't cure are nausea and cave spider bites.
Which, coincidentally enough, can be cured by magma.
