[Hangak]

Just watched an old Soviet era Russian movie (1959) about four brave pioneers desperately searching for valuable gems amidst an unruly wilderness in the goal of doing proud to the Mountainhomes, a.k.a "The Fatherland" (How do you write that in dwarven?). They call themselves The Octahedron. They are armed with picks. They ride native aluminium griffons.

As an Imdb user put it: "this story revolves around four 'pioneers' dropped into a vast wilderness to search for a rumored vein of diamonds (aka 'the Diamond Pipe')"  Should stir up heavy emotions in any dwarf.

I won't say more for fear of spoilers. Name of the movie is Neotpravlennoye pismo "The Unmailed Letter".

An interesting concept, but was it any good?

I liked it. It's like an old Hollywood movie except it's set in the forest and they're all obsessed about helping the Fatherland. Kalatozov was a pretty innovative director so the movie doesn't feel too old. My only problems were that the story is fairly simple and that it gets melodramatic at times.
