Butchering the undead

I noticed that for a while my butcher had no issues about chopping up the undead, which produced a lot of bones for me.  Now I've got a massive pile of undead corpses and the butcher positively refuses to touch them.  Can anyone tell me what has changed?

O wait.You aren't supposed to butcher zombies in the first place.RAW tweaking?

Haven't touched the RAWs at all.  I did upgrade from .02 to .03 since I started the fort.

Do you have a mix of zombies and skeletons on the map? Butchers will butcher the skeleton and turn it into bones, but I'm not sure if they'll do anything with a rotten corpse. If you've been killing zombies you may need to just wait for the skin to rot off before they'll butcher it.

If you set dwarves with [BONECARN] they'll eat the bones, but will become carnivores, so they'll refuse to eat plants.

Look it up, though, I could be wrong.

So it was only skeletons getting butchered.  That makes sense, but it's still no longer happening.  I've got years of undead buildup now.  Skeletal animal skeletons all over the place.
