Make sure they actually fix the underlying problem.

I had braces when I was young, but the issue was that my wisdom teeth were pushing out all of my other teeth forward, causing the whole mess to begin with. Rather than deal with the cause of the problem they just tried to fix the symptoms.

As soon as the braces finally came off, guess what? Everything went right back to how it was. I eventually had my wisdom teeth taken out several years later, after all of that time, money, and discomfort were completely wasted.

For the record, don't skimp on the removable stuff as well.

My teeth more-or-less went back to as they were, and those couple of years of mouth ulcers and fucking awkward eating was a waste.
