Do this first:

WDDWW

then remove/dig the other wall

WDD+W

then add the third door

WDDDW

W = Wall
D = Door
+ = Floor

Use floodgates and a lever.

In one of my recent forts, I ended up accidentally taking down walls next to doors.  As soon as you take down the wall, the door deconstructs.  You can't do what you're describing, at least not in the new version.  It will leave a space in the middle.  The door may sit there, but only as long as it hasn't been taken to the stockpile yet - it is no longer built and reverts back to furniture to be hauled back.

WALLS HAVE TO BE CONSTRUCTED
Natural walls will decontruct doors
Contructed walls will leave the door intact.
Or just look at the wiki
Info given above is relevent for 40d and 2010! :)

Use floodgates and a lever.
This. The other solutions are all practical and workable also, but this one gets my vote as you can lower the floodgates and accept a trade caravan/wagon passing through.
