Has anyone else thought of ... "permanently befriending" some elves into their underground cavern and have nobles gawk at them like the cattle they are?

What, your mayor wasn't beautiful?  Maybe that's why your archer killed him, must keep the beauty taint-free.

I once waited 10 years before piercing the first cavern. It was deeper than usual. End result? So many trees they could barely path, so much food I tore down my farms, and so many colors I shed a tear. 'Tis beautiful.
