I have tried to create a new creature (specifically to see how long it takes JP velociraptors to annihilate the world), however I have run into a bit of a problem, and my creature (whom I have set as COMMON_DOMESTIC in order to make sure it exists) does not appear to have been created.

Add [CREATURE:ANY_THING_HERE] right after the [OBJECT:CREATURE] tag

Ah well, a little more competition for most useful on the modding forum might encourage people to try more, and getting people to try and help others is a good thing.

Mind if I suggest you to add an attack by CLAW2 too in case CLAW1 gets chopped off? Also, front paws' fingers would be nice too.

Having added the previous need, how would I set it so that it can appear in any biome?

I don't think you want them in the ocean.
