Bowgoblins melee dwarf to death
« on: April 23, 2010, 10:11:30 pm »

Two goblin crossbowmen who had run out of ammo decided to try and melee a potash maker. They spent almost 3 days beating her up, before a goblin axeman finally came over and killed her in one attack. Melee with crossbows seems slightly less effective than strong language in this version.

crossbows function like hammers when used in melee. currently hammers / blunt weapons are very ineffective at actually -killing- an opponent, they just break and bruise everything.

I imagine crossbows would be even worse if they were made of wood/bone.

It usually end that way when they run out of ammo. In my last failed fortress, I've had a whole migrant wave beaten to death like that. A siege operator had a combat report of 120+ pages being beaten by 3-4 gobs for several days... he died of blood loss.
