Mobile artillery

A siege isn't much of a siege without siege weapons. While it might not make much sense for barbaric goblins to have access to catapults, attacking humans might. Small, 2x2 catapults moved by 3 or 4 people, with a couple more dragging ammunition to the field. Perhaps the same for balistae.

Of course, for them to be effective, they'd need to cause damage to walls, which would then require for there to be a way to repair the damage to said walls. But it would make the old "nobody home but us chickens" method less effective if the walls could get knocked down.

On this topic, other more advanced siege tactics could be implemented, such as human miners that dig their own path into your fortress, or carpenters who cut down trees to bridge your moats...

It's a mountain...  you don't really repair the outer walls, though your fortications might collapse in some way.  You could be locked inside by the resulting landslides I supposed, if the cliff face is given to landslides.

The more advanced siege tactics are part of rewall, since they'll be needed at that point in an even more clear fashion.
