Finding Something to Kill
« on: April 20, 2010, 04:21:46 pm »

I've been scouring vast tracts of land, but the only places I can find anything to kill are in caves, and those have the unique issue for a fresh adventurer of being populated with semi- and megabeasts. Also, I can't find all that many caves, despite some pretty far roaming. . .

Forgot to add the question, though I hope it wasn't too difficult:

How do I find something to kill that won't punch out my spine with nary a second thought?

First off, are you an elf, or have you recruited any elves? normal animals are non-aggressive towards elves and those that would adventure with elves. Also, the only really threatening megabeasts and semi-megabeasts are the humanoid ones. Dragonfire can easily be blocked if you have shields trained a little, and hydra's are more pitiful than ever. Or you can wander around in evil biomes until you encounter undead and/or other monsters.

Try tundras and glaciers as well. I noticed the yeti's tend to be extremely aggressive.

Of course, you could always go the FUN route by retiring your adventurer, starting new fortress' until you find one with the extra-hidden fun stuff, digging until you find the fun stuff, abandoning the fortress and then bringing your adventurer out of retirement.

Kill elves

Kill humans

Kill dwarves

Watch out for human miners though, as they seem to be pretty freaking powerful. One punched my skull in while another embedded a steel pick in my spine and left me paralyzed.
