Stop alcohol from being cooked?
« on: November 29, 2006, 05:55:00 am »

I'm not sure whether to classify this as a bug so it goes here. I'd really like to stop my alcohol stocks from being constantly cooked into "wine stews", becayse my dwarves start to really complain about going without drink for too long despite the fact that about 100 food "items" are made out of dwarven wine/ale.

There should be either an option to disable cooking drinks in kitchen menu, or make these prepared drinks count as an alcohol, too.

Go into the [z] menu, then go to the Kitchen part of the menu.  Select each drink item (and anything else you don't want cooked) and hit [c] to stop it being cooked.  Blue means allowed, red means not.

what might be good is to have the option of the full list, rather than just what you have.

just dim out the ones that you don't have to indicate just that... can make a fairly big list though..

Yeah, I just noticed that. Gotta peek there more often.

Question then:

Do these settings stay when I eat up all stocks of the particular item? I.E. when I forbid cooking my wine, dwarves drink it all and I brew more, will it still be uncookable?

On the contrary, I'd like an option to make my alcohol undrinkable. :P

These are dwarfs we're talking about, there would be a real mutiny if you tried that...
